Rev. Andrew Fiser, Lead Pastor

Andrew began his appointment as the Pastor of Greenland Hills UMC in July 2022. He’ll be listening for where God is drawing the church into a post-pandemic (we pray!) future, while building on its rich legacy of justice and hospitality to all.  Andrew is eager to get to know every church member and neighbor be can.  One of Andrew’s gifts is “connecting the dots,” either through introducing people who need to know one another or building consensus around transformational new ideas.

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Andrew felt a call to ordained ministry through an innovative church re-start called Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church that brought together diverse people to explore social justice, faith, and the arts. Andrew lives in Grapevine with his wife Kaki and birth-daughters Hattie and Margaret. Kaki and Andrew served as foster parents to seven children who were reunified with biological family members.

Andrew attended parochial schools and Little Rock Catholic High School for Boys, giving him a deep appreciation for Catholicism, but also a commitment to supporting public education. Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas gave Andrew a life-changing experience, and helped him focus on social justice and faith.  For his theological education, Andrew was a Cal Turner Jr. Fellow at Vanderbilt Divinity School in Nashville, serving as a three-year Neighborhood Partnership Intern with Edgehill UMC. Together with church leaders, Andrew helped the church re-engage its neighbors in public housing, a gentrifying neighborhood, Music Row, and nearby universities.  After this experience, the church and senior pastor invited Andrew onboard as co-pastor as they started a FreeStore, a ministry with teen girls, and residential intentional community where he lived.

Prior to coming to Greenland Hills, Andrew served as the Associate Director for the Center for Missional Outreach of The North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.  Andrew oversaw the development of Ministry With Grants to help churches incubate ways to build relationships with the marginalized, facilitated the development of the Conference’s Mental Wellness Initiative, helped respond to the missional needs of COVID-19 and other crises, and assisted in the designing of the Journey Toward Racial Justice process.

Before working for the Center for Missional Outreach, Andrew served as the Director of Site Church & Community Development for the afterschool and Summer Camp ministry known as Project Transformation - North Texas.  And Andrew served as a Church Planting Strategist for the Rio Texas Annual Conference, living on the U.S./Mexico Border in Laredo.
